When I first arrived in Hamburg, I didn’t expect to be so taken by a lake. But as soon as I set eyes on Alster Lake, I knew it would be one of my favorite places in the city. The lake is divided into two parts: the Inner Alster and the Outer Alster. The Inner Alster, which is located just east of the City Hall Square, feels like a precious gem set in the middle of the city.
